L-R  Past President David Manzi, Past President Shiela Lally, Current President Lori Karas and Past President Susana Brown

Lori Karas is a Chapter Board Member of the Red Cross of Massachusetts and active member of The Women Who Care committee of the American Red Cross of Massachusetts, which annually organizes one of the largest networking events in the Commonwealth. In the tradition of founder, Clara Barton, the event was developed to help raise awareness and garner support for the critical programs provided by the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
This year two individuals were honored who exemplify the mission of the American Red Cross.
Dr. David R. King, a Mass General surgeon who used medical savvy from years at war to help victims of traumatic injury promotes the use of modern tourniquets, which, if used properly, are effective in stopping massive bleeding without loss of limbs.
Joseph E. Finn, Boston Fire Commissioner and Chief of Department was introduced by Lauren Baker, First Lady of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Red Cross volunteer.  Commissioner Finn praised the American Red Cross for partnering with Boston Fire to install 1,000 smoke detectors for the elderly community. Early warning and early detection save lives from fast burning fires.
