Steve Brown will be sharing an update of a talk he presented at the Tucson Presidio Rotary Club several weeks ago about the unfolding war in Ukraine. He will provide some historical perspective on Ukraine and Russia and share an except from his 2002 journal when he visited Ukraine on behalf of Rotary, together with current correspondence with Serhii Danylkiv, MD, a Ukrainian Rotarian, who had to flee Bucha/Kyiv three weeks ago.
Steve Brown resides in Arizona and is a member of the Tucson Presidio Rotary Club. Steve was a member of the Rotary Club of Boston from 1997 until 2007, and during that time served a stint as Secretary and as the Chair of the Rotary Foundation (International) Committee.
In 2002, the Rotary Club of Boston was a lead partner in a humanitarian mission to Ternopil, Ukraine, and Steve traveled there to deliver medical equipment, along with Susana Brown, George Finley, and Eleanor Lowry (unfortunately Eleanor had to unexpectedly return to Boston before they reached Ukraine).
Steve holds a B.A. from Yale (1971) and a M.A. in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College (1988), and in 1988 received a Commission as a Community-Based Minister of Healing and Reconciliation. As an elder, author, educator and community organizer, Steve continues to pursue his vocation in public and private sectors through “Commonwealth Solutions”, a consulting firm that fosters dignity and healthy communities.
